Anna gets Ramlila formally for 15-day fast

Anna Hazare’s crusade against corruption will begin afresh today, with a 14-day fast at Ramlila Grounds, after a late-night break through in the deadlocked talks with the Delhi Police.
Kiran Bedi made the dramatic announcement of the breakthrough at 2 am on Thursday, when she posted on Twitter that Anna had accepted the Delhi Police permission for two weeks. “Anna now shall be at the Ramlila grd post 3 pm tody,” she said in her message.
The breakthrough came after Delhi Police, which had arrested Hazare and his aides on apprehension of breach of peace and foiled his agitation plans, climbed down and dropped most of the conditions including the limit on the number of protesters who can gather at the venue. In fact, the police also offered Ramlila Maidan, a bigger venue than the JP Park which was originally preferred by Hazare, for the protest.

Bedi said that Anna Hazare would leave Tihar jail on Thursday afternoon and would likely visit Raj Ghat before starting his hunger strike at the Ramlila Ground after 3pm. She said the government should get a fresh Lokpal Bill introduced in Parliament and have it passed “in accordance with aspirations of the people
